Design details are important, and we like to do it all right; the beautiful Fret-King Country Squire Semitone’s first impression belies its versatility.
The Semitone is built from the timbers we’ve all come to accept as the tonewoods of choice for the style; the two-piece centre-jointed American alder body with alder top and the Canadian hard rock maple neck and rosewood fingerboard provide a solid platform for superior tone and performance. The gently offset body, with sculpted heel and slim horn, provides terrific balance and enhanced upper fret access.
The extended tenon neck/body join ensures stability, and couples outstandingly well to the chambered semi-acoustic body, adding an airy lightness to the feel and voice of this great guitar, and enhancing familiar tone with an acoustic quality which only makes the whole superbly versatile.
The ‘chopped’ Wilkinson WTB ‘cold rolled’ original vintage spec stamped steel bridge features two strings per saddle, solidly anchoring the saddles to the bridge baseplate, ensuring the maximum mechanical coupling so crucial to giving you all the power you need. Adjustable, pre-intonated barrel style natural brass saddles ensure authentic tone and spot-on intonation.
Pickup and control configurations unique to Fret-King allow for the intrinsic character of all Country Squire models to be complemented by a myriad of additional and eminently useable tones. It’s got all the `classic’ tones plus the Fret-King 3+3 neck double coil has hidden powers! The dual concentric tone/Vari-coil control pot to rolls the double coils progressively down to single coil. Flick the selector switch down to the bridge position for the open coil topless WHHB, roll the tone forward and you’re straight into searing bridge single coil. Another smooth move with the Vari-coil roll that neck-side coil in, and it’s `hello Mr Kossoff’! Flick to the neck, back off the tone, and be instant Mr Mellow!

Body
Two-piece centre-jointed American Alder body with Alder top provides resonance, tone and ‘correct weight’ comfort.
Bridge
The Wilkinson WTB bridge features a stamped cold roll steel baseplate which surrounds and enhances the magnetic field of the alnico V loaded bridge pickup.

A Fret-King WHHB 3+3 double coil in the neck position and a Fret-King WHHB double coil in the bridge
